Journal Management: Add, Save, View, Edit, Delete & Send to Xero

Introduction

Did you forget a journal entry? No worries, Tax Sorted has got you covered! We have made it easy to add journal entries from multiple places and at various stages. View user-created and imported journal entries for comprehensive financial analysis, delete incorrect entries efficiently, and edit existing entries for accuracy. Plus, seamlessly push new entries to Xero, saving them as drafts in Xero for posting and further processing. With Tax Sorted, keeping your financial records accurate and up-to-date has never been easier!

How to Add Journal

Step 1: Access the Job Dashboard after logging into your account.



Step 2: Click on the Add Journal button from the top taskbar.



Step 3: Fill in the required details such as Narration, Date, and Tax Type for the journal entry.
Step 4:  Add Description, Amount, Tax Rate, Debit, and Credit as needed.
Step 5: To add more journal entries, click on Add Line.
Step 6: Once the entries are completed, choose Send to Xero to save them to Xero, or click Save as Draft for later review.



Step 7: Use the delete icon to remove any added line items if necessary.



Step 8:  A confirmation message will confirm the successful completion of the process.


How to Push Newly Added Journal Entries to Xero

Step 1: Access the Job Dashboard after logging into your account.



Step 2: Click on Journals User(s) Created.
Note: All journal entries created and saved as draft will be displayed here.
Step 3: Click on the Send to Xero button associated with the newly added journal entry.



Step 4: A confirmation toast message will now appear on your screen.



How to Edit Journal Entries

Step 1: Go to the Job Dashboard after logging into your account.



Step 2: Click on the Journal(s) tab.
Step 3: Click on the Edit icon alongside the journal entry you want to edit.



Step 4: Update the relevant fields as required. Once updated, you can either Save as Draft, Send to Xero or you can close it if you wish to not save the changes that you have made.



Step 5: You will now receive a confirmation toast message at the bottom of your screen. 

How to Delete Journal Entries

Step 1: Access the Job Dashboard after logging into your account.



Step 2: Click on Journal Entries > Users Created.
Note: You can only Delete Journal Entries that are under Users Created tab, and have Saved as Draft.
Step 3: Now click on Delete icon.



Step 4: A pop-up confirmation message will appear on your screen, click on Yes.



Step 4: You will now receive a confirmation toast message once the entry is deleted.

How to View Users Created Journal & Imported Journal

Entries Imported from Xero only will appear after you have connected Xero Ledger. Imported from Xero and Entries created here and send to Xero will be displayed under two tabs as follows.

Journal in Xero

Once the journal has been created and send to Xero, it will be displayed under Drafts tab and can be posted from there.
