"This file is not in PDF format" message when bookmarking an uploaded PDF file

Problem

When bookmarking files uploaded to SMSF Sorted, you may see a message that the file is not in PDF format.

This article will explain why this occurs, and how to rectify it.

Cause

This message will appear if the file being tagged for bookmarking is not in PDF format, however, it will also appear if the file name contains the # symbol. Other symbols such as ! $ % & ^ @ can be used, however, most operating systems will prevent the following characters being used \ / : * ? " < > |

Resolution

You will need to rename the file. 
Currently, this cannot be done within SMSF Sorted, so the file will need to be removed, renamed, then uploaded again
