Workpaper Enhancements: Auto-Save Filters & New BAS, IAS, FBT Job Types

Enhanced Workpaper Experience With Auto-Save Views and New Compliance Jobs

Introduction

Workpaper just got smarter and more efficient with two powerful enhancements.
We’ve expanded Workpaper’s capabilities with the introduction of new job types for BAS, IAS, and FBT, enabling firms to manage a broader range of compliance engagements within a single platform.
Additionally, we’ve enhanced the user experience with automatic saving of filters and view preferences—ensuring your workspace stays exactly the way you set it, eliminating repetitive setup and helping you work more efficiently.

BAS, IAS and FBT Job Types

Value Proposition

With these new job types, users can create, organise, and track BAS, IAS, and FBT jobs alongside existing workflows. This ensures a more streamlined process, better visibility of job progress, and consistent management of all tasks related to compliance, in one place.

Job Type

BAS (Business Activity Statement)

When selecting BAS as the job type, users can choose from multiple reporting periods including Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly. This flexibility allows accountants to align the job setup with the client’s reporting obligations.

IAS (Instalment Activity Statement)

For IAS jobs, users can select Monthly or Quarterly reporting periods. This supports businesses that are required to report and pay instalments more frequently.

FBT (Fringe Benefits Tax)

FBT jobs are set up with a Yearly reporting period, in line with standard FBT compliance requirements. The due date is typically aligned with the FBT financial year.

Auto-Save Filters

Save the Filter

With this update, any changes you make, such as applying filters, selecting or deselecting columns, and adjusting page settings, are saved instantly.
There is no need to manually click a save button, as your preferences are captured automatically the moment you make a selection.

  1. When you refresh the page or navigate away and return later, your view will be restored exactly as you left it, which allows you to seamlessly continue your work without needing to reapply filters or reconfigure your layout.

  1. This feature is particularly useful when working with large datasets or customised views, as it reduces repetitive actions and improves overall productivity.
  2. If at any point you wish to revert to the system’s default view, you can select View Default from the top ribbon bar.  Hence, this gives you the flexibility to switch between personalised and default layouts as needed.

Available Filters

Client name

Quickly locate jobs by filtering based on specific client names, making it easier to focus on relevant engagements.

Entity Type

Filter jobs by entity classification, helping you organise and manage work based on entity structure.

Group Name

View jobs associated with a particular group, allowing better management of related clients under a single group structure.

Financial Year
Filter jobs by financial year to focus on a particular reporting period and maintain better control over compliance timelines.

Column Customisation

In addition to filters, users can customise visible columns on both the Client List and within Job (Financial Report Data)  to better align the workspace with their workflow requirements. These column preferences are automatically saved, ensuring that your customised view is consistently maintained across sessions without any manual action.
